Cooki

July 12, 2011

Our beloved Cooki (aka) Tater Tot passed away this morning sometime between 5 am when I took him out to go potty and 9 am when I got up once again.

He was a wonderful and loving puppy and I was SO happy to give him a good home for this past year. This has been a really tough year for us: first we lost our little 18 yr old Yorkie, Brandi, to old age, which is what motivated us to offer Cooki a home.

Then, just 3 months ago, we lost our big guy, our Schipperke, (8yrs old) to congestive heart failure. He had started to cough intermittently and I took him to the vet who said he that it was the typical Yorkie problem of a collapsing trachea. Not much we could do about it given his age, which, by the way the vet estimated to be more like 14 instead of the 8 that we THOUGHT he was when we adopted him. (No matter: I would have taken him if he'd been 20, just to give him a good home.

Both Brandi and Skippi (and now Cooki) were fortunate enough to have died peacefully here with us in our home.

My heart aches for my little lost Cookipup and yet at the same time I KNOW we did our level best to make him happy. Up until just yesterday he was still waggling his tail when he saw me...

Thank you for making this rescue possible: we had one fabulous year with him.

During his time with us our 'Big Guy' aka "Monster Pup" as we called him, added real joy and a magic to our household. Ever present, ever loving, I was thrilled to have given him an extra year of a happy life in a home where he was adored. I will be ever grateful for the time I did have with himhowever shortand I will always thank HART for making such a great addition to our household possible.

Sadly,
