Buster

March 10, 2012

Buster i.e "counter surfer, Buster Brown" passed over the Rainbow Bridge Saturday, March 10th, 2012. Buster had been having issues with stairs and that morning he didn't want to eat. Food to Buster was everything! He is the reason we had to buy a locking trash can and we were on our second lid as the first one broke.

We took Buster to the vet and x-rays revealed that he had a huge tumor essentially under his hip pushing his organs up and forward. He was in discomfort so we went ahead with the surgery in hopes of removing it. The vets called to tell us that the tumor was not only malignant attached to his spleen, but had already spread to his liver. We had no choice but to let him pass in his sleep.

Buster was a great dog! Sadly, he lived with a family for six years but was left at the vet because they could not afford to keep him and HART stepped in to find him a home. When our dog, Flip, and Buster met, they acted like brothers, so we knew he was the one to adopt. Buster loved to meet other dogs and one of his best friends was Jerry, a St. Bernard that lives down the street. Buster was happiest right in the middle section of our sofa upside down! We always joked that anything could happen, but as long as Buster had the sofa he was fine. During the earthquake, Flip ran around while Buster "duct taped" himself to the sofa and held on.

Buster had a huge personality! He loved to tell us how to fix his food faster, counter surf, run down the sidewalk, and just be part of the family. Not long after Buster moved in with us, we were taking him to the vet in the morning to get his teeth cleaned, so he wasn't allowed to eat. We fixed Flip's food and left it on the end of the table, then walked Flip. After we got back, we noticed that Flip's food dish was empty and the dining room chair which is on wheels had been pushed back and around to the end of the table. Immediately we said "Buster". He had stood on his hind legs and moved the chair around so he could get to the food. We sill laugh about this and how skilled he was especially when food was involved.

We are still mourning the loss of our beagle boy. Thanks HART for bringing him into our lives which we were lucky to share with him for this past year.

Buster, we'll see you on the other side of the Rainbow where you're enjoying unlimited food and comfortable sofas everywhere.

Brian, Carol & Flip
