Atlas has a very sad story and I wish stories like his were few and far between but sadly not so. Here is what happened...animal control was contacted by concerned neighbors who said that a dog was starving in a chain link enclosure. When they arrived at the property they could not see a dog in the yard and left. Further investigation revealed a completely grown over small enclosure that was filthy and uncovered. The explanation: the bamboo fell over during the winter storms and he couldn't get to the pen so every few days he would try to throw food in the direction of the pen. Atlas was seized on March 30, starving and weak. And these "humans" run a daycare facility out of their home. Through all of this Atlas has maintained a wonderful and gentle spirit. He is housetrained, polite and getting used to a crate. Update from his foster mom, "Atlas is doing great. He loves to be around other people and other animals. I don't think he has a mean bone in his body which is getting stronger and stronger. As far as the crate, well he sleeps on my bed and has the roam of the house during the day. The crate is just not his thing, it seems to scare him and I just cannot do that to him. He is a wonderful dog that someone would be very lucky to adopt."
