Duke is not only a really handsome guy, he is also very loving, attentive, patient, and silly. His foster family reports that he has excellent house manners, and is completely housetrained and crate trained. When he wants to go for a walk he will bring you his harness or leash. He is very strong but generally good on a leash. His favorite thing is snuggling with his people: at 78 pounds, he thinks he is a (very large) lap dog! He would love a home with a good sized fenced yard as he loves to run around the yard and play. Duke is a sweet, sensitive boy who is shy in new situations so he needs a patient family who will work with him. In his previous home and in his current foster home, Duke has done well with the other dogs but he has not been exposed to many new dogs outside the home. He needs slow introductions to new dogs as he is shy. He would likely do well as an only dog with someone who is home a lot, or with a resident dog or dogs who are calm and can be good role models. He is good with older children (10+) but young children make him nervous. His foster family says Duke is a lovely boy who bonds closely to his people. He is very responsive, makes eye contact, and loves affection.
