They say a hard life can age you well beyond your years. Mia can attest to that! Kept tied up outside day and night, and receiving very little care, a concerned neighbor convinced Mia's owners to allow her to turn Mia into the shelter. The neighbor knew very little about Mia, beyond the neglect she had witnessed, and told the shelter staff that Mia was about 14 years old. Mia was very thin with a bloated belly, which the shelter staff attributed to parasites. Two days later, to the surprise of the staff, Mia gave birth to four beautiful babies The Hockey Pups on the cold, concrete shelter floor. A kind man wrapped Mia and her newborn babies in a warm towel, took them home with him, and contacted HART. With the hard life behind her, Mia is now a happy, healthy, sociable little girl, whose true age is about 5 years old. She knows basic commands such as "sit", "stay", and "come". She is house trained, walks well on a leash, enjoys a good game of fetch, and loves to go for car rides, . But best of all is when she can eek out a couple of inches to lay on the sofa next to her foster for a belly rub - she does love her belly rubs. Mia gets along well with her foster canine sisters, and pretty much ignores the feline housemates. She also does well around the toddler and younger children. Mia is looking forward to starting her new life with a new forever family.
