Tahoe - Adopted on 4/20/2020

Age:  About 6 years
Gender:  Male
Breed:  Pitbull Mix

Tahoe is a gentle, quiet, easy-going dog who is a couch potato at heart but can also be playful - he will follow your lead. Tahoe was in a shelter in SC before coming to HART. He became a favorite of one of the experienced volunteers and she fostered him until he was ready to transport to us. She describes him as a low-key, affectionate, respectful, and loyal dog. Even though he's likely led a life of neglect, his eyes light up for treats and he pounces on toys with puppy-like abandon.

Tahoe loves going on long walks, playing with his kong toy, snoozing in his dog bed, lying in the sun, and being petted. He is friendly with new people but is respectful and does not jump up on them. He does fine with other dogs but is definitely more interested in humans and prefers calm dogs who won't push him to play. He takes some time to relax in new situations, but if you let him go at his own pace, he will blossom.

He wants to please and takes correction well. He is okay with not being on furniture and will sleep soundly on his dog bed at night in your room. He is quiet and doesn't even bark when other dogs bark or howl. He loves his dog bed so his foster mom started teaching him the word "place" to direct him to his bed. He is house trained and crate trained and adorably crosses his paws over each other when he is in his crate.
