This timid girl will be a very rewarding family member for a patient adopter with a calm home. She is content just to be in the room with you. She will hide when she's feeling overwhelmed, but that is happening less often than it used to as she gets more comfortable with people. She will occasionally approach for a scratch under the chin. She is currently taking an inexpensive anxiety medication, which is helping her to rationalize her fear. She is great about taking her pills with a little canned cheese squirted on them!

Petunia is completely house trained. She is generally well behaved when loose in the house. Petunia is very comfortable being by herself. She feels safe in her crate and often sleeps in it at night. She is very food motivated.

Petunia would love a fenced yard! Rolling in the grass is one of her favorite activities. She will likely need leash walks for the first few months while she adjusts to a new routine. The good news is she is a dream on a leash and does not pull at all! She still gets nervous when going to new places, but she should work through this with continued practice and repetition. She will adjust faster if her new family has a strong routine. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home and tends to take cues from the more confident dog. She would benefit from having another chill canine companion, but she would probably be fine as an only dog. Her current foster home has two cats, for which she has shown very little interest.
