Martha has the best smile! She may be in her later years but her attitude is young and her spirit is infectious. Sometimes when you talk to her, she gets all bouncy and the whole back end wiggles. She was a staff favorite at the shelter in SC that she came from. She is very sweet and laid back.

She is definitely a country dog and is adjusting to all the new sights and sounds and SMELLS of the suburbs. She is more curious than fearful. As with most hounds, she loves to smell. She will frequently just stand still with her head in the air sniffing. Walks can be a little slow when there is so much to check out! When we pass people or another dog, she'll just stop and stare at them for a while.

Martha came to us very underweight but luckily she has a good appetite and we expect she will soon be at a healthy weight. Her teeth are quite worn down so she does prefer mostly softer foods.

She loves having her ears rubbed and who can resist those big soft hound ears. She doesn't bark much and when she does it is quieter than most hounds. She loves spending time in the yard, sniffing and sunbathing, so a fenced yard is definitely a bonus for her.

She is house trained and crate trained. She sleeps all night on a dog pillow next to her foster's bed. She peacefully coexists with the other dogs in her foster home.
