Java is the complete package-brains, beauty and personality. This handsome fellow is well trained, affectionate, and ready to for daytime adventures and evening snuggles with his people. Java is in his prime and over the puppy shenanigans, but still playful.

Java is house trained, with excellent manners. He knows that couches and beds are for his humans. He is crate-trained, but has proven he can be trusted while left alone.

He knows the basic commands (sit, stay, come, down, heel, crate, leave it) and is ready and willing to learn more. He is a people-pleaser, and is treat motivated.

Java loves being outdoors and is looking for an active family that will enjoy what this special guy has to offer. He loves going on hikes, sniffing around the yard, and if there is a creek on the way he will happily splash around. He would probably make a good running buddy as well. While he is an active dog, he is not a hyper dog.

Java is reported to have lived with a cat before, but we would proceed with caution as he does chase furry little critters in the yard and his breed is a hunting one. His former owner had him enrolled in doggie day care, so he should be fine with other dogs, but he does like a slow introduction to new dogs and prefers calmer dogs. He has been around children in his foster home without issue (10, 11, 14, and 15 years old), but due to his manageable resource guarding we wouldn't recommend small children.
