Ava is a sweet, loyal, and loving dog. Her current family adopted her in the fall of 2018 and were told she was about 6 months old at the time. She grew up in a house with 3 teenagers (2 boys and a girl) and two moms. The teenage girl of the family really raised her and trained her and took care of her for 6 years and Ava was a lifesaver during those dark days of the pandemic. Ava can be friendly with other dogs but doesn't like ALL other dogs. She recently made friends with a neighbor's boxer, who is about 2 and Ava and this boxer play very well together. Ava also likes people but not ALL people. Ava thrives on routine and her new home may have new routines. But her routine in her current home for the last 6 years has been two walks a day (now that kids are at college, the walks are 30 minutes each, the walks were longer when teenager was caring for Ava), periodic playtime in basement chasing a tennis ball (she tires out pretty fast), lots of down time napping in her crate, which she really loves and is like her den. She will also nap outside her crate if she's with someone else, but she does like her crate. The best new home for Ava will be with people who are "dog people" who are able to be attuned to her. Ava is used to being in a home where she's the only dog and that seems to work well. However, we can imagine Ava doing well in a home with another dog (if its the right dog) to keep her company and for play.
