Stitch is a beautiful girl who is alive thanks to the kindness of strangers and one inventive, determined young man. She was found starving and alone on the Appalachian trail, hanging around a shelter used by through hikers, some of whom would give her some food but clearly not enough to sustain her. By the time her savior came through on his way north, she was very weak and malnourished. The young man knew he needed to get her to a rescue, so he fashioned his rain jacket into a sling and carried her miles to a point where he was able to meet up with one of HART's rescue partners.
Stitch is recovering well from her ordeal, gaining weight and showing what a smart, resilient girl she is. Despite having nearly died from starvation, she takes treats gently, and is doing great on learning leash manners. She's learning the joys of living with people who care about her, and loves having gentle scratches under her chin and on her chest. Once she is completely recovered Stitch will make some active person or family a wonderful hiking or jogging companion.
