Belvidere is the perfect example that first impressions are correct even if the package is a little tattered and stinky. The first time Belvidere's foster saw him she knew under all that dirt and smell that he had potential to be a wonderful dog and after a couple baths and good food he proved her right. He tends to act like a small dog trapped in a large body, so doesn't always know his own strength! When he is excited his whole body shakes and he tries hard to walk down the hardwood stairs gracefully but never quite manages it but instead half slips and half runs down them trying hard not to fall flat on his face. He gives wonderful hugs and loves to be pet. Belvidere is housetrained, crate trained, rides well in the car, and shows no signs of being a barker even in the crate. Even though he is the biggest dog in the household he isn't dominant and gets along with both his canine foster sisters. He can sit, down, shake, clumsily attempts rollover and even though he is a large dog has surprisingly good leash manners. He has the potential to pull you around if you let him though, so he will benefit from continued training. Belvidere seems curious about cats but hasn't been in close contact since his foster doesn't have any. Right now he is underweight and has a skin condition that causes him to itch but his foster is working on both issues and hopes to have him feeling and looking better soon. Stop by one of our adoption events and meet him! We know you won't be disappointed!
